The themes for my artworks generally originate from mythology, although interpreted and embellished by my imagination, sometimes the pictures create the feeling of myth or folk-tale although not based on any actual story. I also find appealing the idea of an icon or archetype in my work. This can be seen in the form of the seed sower which I have painted on numerous occasions, the figure is usually seen striding forward and the image should be read as a celebration of individual, positive, creative force. There is often something of a humorous or quirky nature about my work.

For a time after my foray into the fashion world I threw myself with gusto into the great open air. I have always loved plants and gardens and it was a short step to becoming a plantsman and garden designer. As I indulged myself and my clients in some of the more exotic and unusual plants I re-discovered the urge to photograph everything, firstly so that I could show next year’s buyers what they could expect to see later after the sprigs in their tiny pots had grown up, but also just for the pure delight of it.
